PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, a method and a computer program for estimating an unknown water generation area capable of estimating an unknown water generation area using a smaller number of pieces of sample data.SOLUTION: A device for estimating an unknown water generation area according to an embodiment includes an acquisition unit and an estimation unit. The acquisition unit acquires rainfall data indicating rainfall in a sub-area constituting a targeted area, and flow data indicating the amount of water flowing out from a prescribed location in a catchment area. The estimation unit aggregates the rainfall data acquired by the acquisition unit for a plurality of first unit areas larger than the sub-area and performs a multivariate analysis using the flow data and the rainfall data for each of the first unit areas, thus estimating the first unit area that includes the unknown water generation area. The estimation unit also performs the multivariate analysis using the flow data and the rainfall data for each of second unit areas included in the estimated first unit area, thus estimating the second unit area that includes the unknown water generation area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
