Method of automated development of an evolution curve of a representative indicator of the variability of the heart rate of an individual or of a racing animal comprising the following steps: - Determining (101) a measurement sequence of an indicator representative of the variability of the heart rate, said sequence comprising, for each temporal occurrence of said period, a measure to be a zero value corresponding to an absence of measurement the time instance associated, - Normalize (102) measures said sequence excluding Standardization null values, - Perform at least one interpolation (103,104) of the standardized sequence by performing a running average over a predetermined length of P sequence values, null values are excluded from the average, - If at least one zero value, corresponding to an absent extent remains in the interpolated sequence, filtering (105) said sequence canceling the P-1 values preceding said at least one zero value and the P-1 values according to said at least null.
