The invention relates to a tool (200) for preforming a metallic starting pipe part (100) for a subsequent hydroforming process for producing a tubular hydroforming component, with a plurality of tool parts (210, 220) which are movable relative to one another and which have a shaping cavity (230) between them for receiving and limit the deformation of the output pipe part (100).
