FIELD: agriculture.SUBSTANCE: method of determining the level of physiological maturity of seeds comprises treating the seeds with electromagnetic field of extremely high frequency. The duration of exposure to electromagnetic field of extremely high frequency is 4-5 minutes. And the difference of infrared radiation of seeds before and after treatment with the electromagnetic field of extremely high frequency is compared with a reference schedule of energy of infrared radiation of the physiologically mature seeds. The device for determining the level of physiological maturity of seeds comprises an objective, a lens made of silicon, an analog-digital converter. In addition, it is additionally provided with a housing having an opening for containing sample of seeds on the lower part of the housing, a base, a measuring infrared radiation sensor mounted in the housing cover. The lower part of the housing fixed to the base is placed in a frame, the measuring infrared radiation sensor is connected through the analog-digital converter to a personal computer on which the software for data processing is installed.EFFECT: group of inventions enables to reduce the exposure of EMF of EHF to seeds and to increase the accuracy of determining the quality of crop seed batch before sowing, increasing the reliability of measurement of infrared radiation energy of seeds.2 cl, 3 dwg, 3 ex
