The present invention relates to a heavy metal adsorbent using a biochar-alginic acid capsule, a preparation method thereof, and a method for removing heavy metal in an aqueous solution using the same. More specifically, provided is a biochar-alginic acid capsule in a core-shell structure in which a matrix of alginic acid gel covers an external surface of biochar in the core by crosslinked bond. According to the present invention, an adsorption capsule has excellent adsorbability, and can be manufactured at a lower cost than activated carbon or an alginic acid adsorbent which is an existing high-priced adsorbent. Also, since the adsorption capsule can be repeatedly reused, economic feasibly is excellent.
