With regard to a cam mechanism for needle adjustment, which can be installed in a foot cover knitting machine, the present invention relates to a new type of cam mechanism which remarkably improves the structures of a lacing cam unit and a transfer cam unit and the installation structures of the two. The new type of cam mechanism greatly contributes to the enhancement of the smoothness and efficiency of an operation as well as the simplification of a structure and is very advantageous to the reduction of operation errors and failure rates which can be involved during an operation. With regard to an ordinary foot cover knitting machine, lace cams are installed on the lower parts of the lacing cam unit and the transfer cam unit, wherein the lace cams are in a complete forward state at ordinary times and move backwards to lower needles by one level only in a weaving process of a band part of a foot cover which is woven with rubber yarn and base yarn. Furthermore, a touch cam for lowering a medium-sized needle is installed on the top of one side of each lace cam, wherein the touch cam moves backwards at ordinary times and is pushed forwards in the weaving process of the band part to lower the medium-sized needle, thereby promoting the weaving of the band part.
