According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for optimizing the shape of a structure using an artificial bee colony algorithm (ABCA) comprises the steps of: establishing a design area, initial design, and parameters in order to optimize the shape of the structure using the artificial bee colony algorithm; performing finite element modeling of employed bee elements indicating the structure based on the established design area, initial design, and parameters; performing a finite element analysis of the modeled employed bee elements; defining boundary elements of the structure; selecting the position of a temporary candidate solution to search a candidate solution based on the boundary elements of the structure and a result of the finite element analysis; performing a finite element analysis of the candidate solution searched according to the selection of the position of the temporary candidate solution; and determining the candidate solution as an optimal solution when an objective function of the structure according to the candidate solution satisfies convergence conditions. Therefore, the shape of the structure may be optimized by a probabilistic method by performing the shape optimization of the structure through the ABCA.
