The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding images based on a motion prediction and a method and apparatus for decoding images based on the motion predication. The method for encoding the images according to the present invention improves the performance of a prediction between screens by determining at least one candidate estimator set including at least one candidate estimator in a candidate estimator range centered on a current estimator on a reference frame, determining a reference estimator based on the error rate of hypothetical estimators determined by using the candidate estimator of each candidate estimator set, performing the motion prediction of a current frame using a current block and a reference block corresponding to the reference estimator, and encoding image data including the current frame based on a motion prediction result.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
