The present invention relates to a method for producing a porous alginic acid gel composite including iron (hydr)oxide and to an adsorbent including the same and simultaneously removing arsenic and heavy metals. The composite of the present invention includes iron (hydr)oxide adhered on porous alginic acid gel and the inside of pores of the porous alginic acid gel. Accordingly, the same has an excellent adsorbing function for arsenic or bivalent heavy metals-for example, copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and cadmium (Cd). When the same is used as an adsorbent for the pollution materials, the same can effectively remove the pollution materials without causing secondary pollution materials, and anions and cations can be simultaneously treated. In particular, arsenic exists as an anion, such as H_2AsO_4^-1 and HAsO_4^2^- in water. The composite according to the present invention can not only adsorb such anionic arsenic but also simultaneously adsorb heavy metals such as Pb, Cu, and Cd which are cations.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
