The present invention is applicable to the field of sensing technologies. Provided are a room occupancy state sensing method and a room occupancy state sensing apparatus. The method comprises: receiving multiple probe events sent by multiple sensors associated with a preset room; sorting the multiple probe events according to a time order of occurrence of the multiple probe events and identifications of the multiple sensors, so as to obtain an event sequence of the multiple probe events; and when the event sequence meets a triggering condition corresponding to a room occupancy state, outputting the occupancy state of the room. In the embodiments of the present invention, occupancy state information of a room is rapidly obtained according to multiple probe events and the order/time of the events as well a specific event relationship causing "occupancy locking", thereby improving the precision and the response speed of the room occupancy state probe.
