The subject matters of the invention is a matrix device and method for determining the place and time of the gamma quanta interaction as well as the use of the device for determining the place and time of the gamma quanta interaction in positron emission tomography. More specifically the invention describes a solution which allows the determination of the spatial distribution of concentrations of selected substances in the body and the changes of its concentration over time.
