The present invention provides a system and method of synchronizing fileprotocol between an internalenterprise network and an external enterprise network. In accordance with anaspect of the presentinvention, there is provided a method of synchronizing file protocol betweenan internal enterprisenetwork and an external enterprise network having the following steps:detecting a file operation on afile on one of the internal enterprise network and the external enterprisenetwork; determining a firstfile protocol associated with the file from one of the internal enterprisenetwork and the externalenterprise network; comparing a second file protocol associated with the filefrom the other of theinternal enterprise network and the external enterprise network; and if thefirst file protocol satisfiesthe second file protocol, the file operation is permitted.
