Castor is an obnoxious weed in urban areas (vacant sites). Though the problem is less acute in agricultural lands, the weed could still be a problem there, depending upon nitrogen fertilizers used. The weed vigorously grows in urban areas due to effective dispersal of its seed.In this invention seed germination of the weed is controlled by a simple method (0.1% of NaCl solution in 400g of soil). O.lmg/gm of NaCl solution soil treatment is spread over 4days per sqmt (40, 20-day old plants after germination of 30cm height each) of the site for controlling the weed.
