PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing upward warpage of a rolled material, in which it is possible to heat the material in a heating furnace so that an accurate temperature difference between the front surface and the rear surface of the material is attained, and to prevent upward warpage of the rolled material by a rolling mill securely.SOLUTION: A heating furnace 1 includes an upper zone 1g which heats the front surface of a material 3 and a lower zone 1h which heats the rear surface of the material. Each of the upper zone and the lower zone is heat-controlled by a furnace temperature/fuel flow rate control apparatus 20. The furnace temperature/fuel flow rate control apparatus performs furnace temperature control to adjust the flow rate of fuel to be supplied to a burner 13 based on the output value of a temperature sensor 10 which measures the furnace temperature in the zones 1g, 1h, and at the same time, performs fuel flow rate control to adjust the flow rate so that the furnace temperature control is stopped when the flow rate exceeds a predetermined flow rate threshold value where the upward warpage of a rolled material 4 is easy to occur, and that the flow rate becomes a set value of constant flow rate smaller than the flow rate threshold value.
