PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remaining life assessment method of a power transformer using a press board or winding insulating paper, capable of reducing estimation error of water content of an insulating paper and capable of improving assessment precision of remaining life of the power transformer.;SOLUTION: The water content in a press board is estimated by using a relationship among an insulating oil temperature for each remaining polymerization degree of a degraded press board, a water content in the insulating oil, and a water content of the degraded press board, based on the water content in the insulating oil that is measured and the value of maximum oil temperature at that time, for acquiring an average water content in a press board. Then, from the value, an optimum water content in the insulating oil is determined. By using a relationship among an insulating oil temperature for each remaining polymerization degree of a degraded winding insulating paper, a water content in the insulating oil, and a water content in a degraded insulating paper, an optimum water content in the insulating paper is acquired based on the temperature at a winding maximum point temperature part at a winding upper part and the water content in the insulating oil.
