PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atmosphere control method that can inexpensively control the carbon potential of furnace atmosphere in a continuous-type steel pipe annealing furnace by a simple control system.SOLUTION: Provided is an atmosphere control method for a continuous-type steel pipe annealing furnace comprising a front chamber, a heating chamber, a cooling chamber and a rear chamber, and in which an endothermic type gas generation unit is connected to the heating chamber, only the endothermic type gas generated by the endothermic type gas generation unit is fed to the heating chamber for the atmosphere control as well as the carbon potential of the endothermic type gas is controlled mainly by adjusting the amount of the air fed to the endothermic type gas generation unit.
