The bed base (1) has cross-pieces (2) and side-units (3) assembled on a frame (4). The frame is assembled at each of the side-unit by a square. Branches of the square are placed respectively one of the cross-pieces and one of the side-units. Each branch on the cross-piece carries one of female type connection components (7). The component is formed by a tubular body defining a tapped longitudinal cavity extending overhanging from the branch in direction of interior of the frame according to a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the branch. An independent claim is also included for a bed comprising a bed base.
