Optical polarization device for stereoscopic image projector in stereoscopic image display system, has control circuit controlling polarization switching of optical beams so that all beams have same optical polarization
The device (3) has an optical polarizer element (304) to decompose an incident light beam (22) into a transmitted light beam (306) having an optical polarization, and reflected light beams (308, 310) having another optical polarization. The element includes two blades (322, 324) having a junction (326) on an incident beam path (328). Two optical reflectors (312, 314) project the reflected beams, and polarization modulators (316-320) switch the polarization of the optical beams. A control circuit (31) controls the polarization switching so that all the beams have the same optical polarization. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a stereoscopic image display system (2) a method for displaying a stereoscopic image.
