The method involves positioning first and second parts (1, 3) on first and second supports (9, 13) without sliding according to directions of sliding effort. The supports are moved toward each other by setting flat surfaces (2, 4) of the parts to face each other. A sliding effort (Ft) is applied to the supports of the first part and the second part that is positioned on the support moving according to the direction. A value of the effort to cause displacement of the first part with respect to the second part is recorded to deduce a value of friction coefficient between the surfaces. An independent claim is also included for an installation for measuring friction coefficient between parts during application of sliding effort on the parts.
