The present invention relates to a device (1) for gripping and positioning of musclims (2), comprising a bowl (10) adapted to receive a muselet (2), the bowl (10) delimiting notches (13) for receiving the legs (4b) of the cap (2), the notches (13) being distributed around a longitudinal axis (X1) of the bowl (10); a magnet (20) movable in the bowl (10), in a first direction (D1) parallel to the longitudinal axis (X1) and directed towards the notches (13), or in a second direction (D2) opposite the first direction (D1); and a centering device (60) disposed in the bowl (10) and able to center the cap (2) with respect to the longitudinal axis (X1). The device (1) is characterized in that the centering device (60) comprises, on the one hand, a bearing surface (67) of the magnet (20) in the first direction (D1) in a rest configuration and on the other hand, a surface (68) of final centering of the muelet (2); and in that the magnet (20) is movable, in particular under the action of a capsule (6) belonging to the wire (2), in the second direction (D2) away from the bearing surface ( 67) provided on the centering device (60). The invention also relates to a muscling machine equipped with such a device (1), as well as to a method of implementing such a device (1).
