The method involves measuring the voltage of a battery (3), and determining setpoint values of absorbed current and voltage on a power supply network (2). A reference current is determined as a function of the battery voltage and the setpoint values of current and voltage absorbed on the power supply network. An inverter (6) is controlled to achieve the reference current at a primary winding of a transformer (9) so that an envelope of a current flowing in the primary winding of the transformer presents a sine squared shape in phase with the voltage absorbed on the power supply network.
