The equipment (2) has a log carriage (3) mounted to move in translation according to a displacement direction and arranged to displace a log (4) according to a general direction. A driving unit drives the carriage in translation the according to the displacement direction. A shaping unit (12) has rotative shaping disks for placing longitudinal notches on the log supported by the carriage, where the notches are extended parallel to the displacement direction. A sawing unit (13) cuts the log according to a cut plane extending parallel to the displacement direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for cutting a log.
