Fitting i.e. backrest catch, for vehicle seat, has indexing lever provided on abutment unit, which rests against stop unit in locking position of indexing lever that is secured by another indexing lever in locking position
The fitting has a first indexing lever (2) moved from a locking position into an unlocking position. A second indexing lever is secured by the first indexing lever in the locking position. The second indexing lever rests in the locking position in a contact region against the first indexing lever. The second indexing lever is provided on an abutment unit (4), which rests against a stop unit in the locking position of the second indexing lever. The second indexing lever is rotatably supported around a rotational axis (7) and partly covered with a covering (3) i.e. metal sheet covering. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a fitting.
