Method for operating vehicle, involves automatically braking vehicle based on release of pedestrian protection device such that person on bonnet of vehicle is carried upto standstill of vehicle according to effected person impact
The method involves automatically braking a vehicle (3) based on release of a pedestrian protection device such that a person (1) on a bonnet of the vehicle is carried upto a standstill of the vehicle according to an effected person impact. A full braking operation of the vehicle is automatically performed before entry of the person impact when forthcoming person impact is detected. A brake performance is automatically reduced according to the person impact. An environment of the vehicle is detected for feedthrough of a clearance analysis.
