The method (800) involves calculating a serving channel estimate (802) from a serving base station and interfering channel estimates from interfering base stations during a scheduled time and frequency zone. A serving base station precoder vector is determined (804) for the serving base station. Companion precoder vectors for the interfering base stations are determined (806) based on one of the serving base station precoder vector and the interfering channel estimates. A serving base station precoder vector and companion precoder vectors are sent (808) to the serving base station.
