Method for restoring lost and/or damaged data transmitted from transmitting device to receiving device, involves replacing current entry of LDPC parity check matrix with entry of Galois field until entry in matrix is modified
The method involves determining and storing a performance measure of the efficiency of used LDPC codes, and selecting the sets of unrecovered variable nodes. All the variable nodes in an LDPC parity check matrix are selected, and a current entry of the parity check matrix is replaced with an entry of the Galois field. The steps are repeated until the entry in the parity check matrix is modified, and coefficients of non-zero entries of the parity check matrix are selected for which the best performance metric is determined.
