The invention relates to a method for making contact with an ultrasonic transducer (10; 10; 10 ‘ ‘ ‘) for non-destructive testing of a unit under test, a large material thickness and by means of ultrasound. In this case, an ultrasonic transducer (10; 10; 10 ‘ ‘ ‘) is provided which, in a plurality of individually activatable ‘ transducer segments (11; 11; 11; 11 ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘) is divided, wherein this ‘ transducer segments (11; 11; 11; 11 ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘) as a concentric circles or rings, or portions thereof are formed, and a plurality of groups of ‘ transducer segments (11; 11; 11; 11 ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘) selectively can be selected in such a way that in the case of a parallel actuation of the ‘ transducer segments (11; 11; 11; 11 ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘) in each case one circular active surface of the ultrasonic transducer (10; 10; 10 ‘ ‘ ‘). Furthermore, a printed circuit board (20) is provided, on which a plurality of conductor tracks (21), which extend in each case between two sides (22; 23) of the printed circuit board (21) extend. For the formation of a damping body, the printed circuit board (21) in such a way in these damping body (40) that first ends (24; 24, 24 ‘,..n) the conductor tracks (21) on one side (22) of the damping body (40) are exposed, while associated second ends (25; 25, 25 ‘,..n) on the other side (23) of the damping body (40) are exposed.
