The side door has a side sill (10) which partially covers a passenger car body in the vehicle transverse direction towards the outside, and a support element (22), by which the side door is supported to the side sill in an accidental application of force which acts on the side door in the vehicle transverse direction towards inside. The support element has a predetermined-failure point, at which the accidental application of force is deformed inwards under pivoting in the vehicle transverse direction. The support element is made of a metallic material, particularly a sheet metal component.
