Intravascular ultrasound source for reversible overcoming of blood-brain barrier in e.g. human, has catheter to move source through blood vessel to place within skull of human or animal, so as to locally overcome blood-brain barrier
The ultrasound source (1) has a delivery unit for delivering a contrast agent for an MRI or a medicament to a location within the skull (3) of a human or an animal. A catheter (2) moves the ultrasound source through a blood vessel (4) of the human or animal to a place within the skull of the human or animal, so as to locally overcome a blood-brain barrier (6), where the ultrasound source emits ultrasound (7) within the skull of the human or animal. An independent claim is also included for a method for reversible overcoming of a blood-brain barrier in a human or an animal.
