The sensor has a gas-sensitive layer (4) comprising detection material whose electronic function changes with an interaction with volatile organic compound or oxidizing gas molecules (5). A detection unit detects alterations of the electronic function of the detection material. The detection unit comprises a FET structure, and the detection material is provided in the region of gates of the FET structure. The gate of the FET structure is disconnected by an air gap (6) from the remaining FET structure. The detection material comprises molecularly embossed polymer.
