The device has an excitation module (14) for generating surface plasmons (13) with frequencies of a viewable spectral region in a metal film (12) of a sample body. The excitation module produces a standing wave field. A control device is connected with the excitation module and controls such that the control device in standing wave field maxima of the surface plasmons is adjustable at different nano-structures (15, 16) e.g. projections or recesses. The nano-structures make an optical far field uncoupling at changing locations at a surface and generate different light conditions. An independent claim is also included for a testing method for an optical microscope.
