The method involves performing the ignition in a combustion chamber (16) of the internal combustion engine (1) with the fuel mixture by a spark plug. The operation range of the internal combustion engine is set, in which the uncontrolled burn occurred by the torque-based, power control of the internal combustion engine is faded out. An independent claim is included for device preventing generation of uncontrolled burning in internal combustion engine.
