The method involves feeding and pressing the bulk materials, and measuring the weight per unit area of the manufactured plate elements after their exit from the press (5). The measurement of weight per unit area of the bulk materials is carried out before entering into the press. The measured weight per unit area of the manufactured plate elements is compared with the average value. The thickness of the manufactured plate elements is measured and the bulk density of the plate elements is determined from the thickness and the weight per unit area. An independent claim is included for a device for manufacturing plate elements from bulk materials, particularly wood particles.
