The method involves repeatedly executing a test process till an excitation system (3) reaches into a position during a relative movement, where the position corresponds to a front end of a last test region in a moving direction (Rb). Information about a total length of elongated linear joint connections e.g. laser weld seams (2), is detected during the movement by a thermography camera (12) for absolute time points and for points of each connection. The information is transformed into a film strip by a computer (17) of an image evaluating system (18). The strip is evaluated by the system. An independent claim is also included for a system for non-destructive testing of elongated linear joint connections at components on inner defects and/or surface defects by active thermography.
