Reciprocating single-and multi-cylinder, internal combustion engine e.g. diesel engine, for vehicle, has double crank mechanism including counter-rotating cranks, where one crank is arranged in bottom portion of case surrounding mechanism
The engine has a work chamber (20) defined above a piston in a cylinder (10). A linearly movable seal is guided through an aperture in a partition wall (18) arranged beneath the piston. A fresh load chamber (24) supplies compacted fresh air to the work chamber. A double crank mechanism with counter-rotating cranks (46, 48) is arranged at an opposite side of the wall. The cranks are connected over a connecting rod (50) articulated with a piston rod (14). One of the cranks is used as a pumping link for liquid and arranged in a bottom portion of a crank case (44) surrounding the mechanism. The cranks rotate at equal rotation speeds.
