The method involves using changes of corrosion protection current for judging of sufficient efficacy of cathodic corrosion protection of a pipeline (1) made from metal and laid in soil. The changes of the corrosion protection current are determined directly or indirectly by measuring changes of pH-values of soil enclosing a separate measuring probe i.e. steel probe, where the probe is manufactured from steel and electrically connected with the pipeline. The changes of the pH-values are determined by a pH-value measuring electrode placed in an area of the probe. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for monitoring efficacy of cathodic corrosion protection of a system.
