Method of operating damper for damping relative movement between two components, involves damping components to each other, where characteristic value in real time is generated from which adjusted field strength is derived in real-time
The method involves damping two components to each other, where the components are hydraulically connected with each other by a damping unit. A controllable damping valve of a field generating unit is provided with which a field-sensitive medium is influenced to influence a damping force by generating a field strength of the field generating unit. A characteristic value in real time is generated. An adjusted field strength is derived in real-time with the characteristic value. The adjusted field strength in real time is generated with the field generating unit to adjust a damping force in real time, which results from the determined characteristic value. An independent claim is included for a damper with a sensor unit.
