Process for the environmentally compatible treatment of sewage sludge, in which the sewage sludge is stabilized in a digestion tower (11) using anaerobic microorganisms with at least predominant oxygen exclusion, waste heat being supplied to the digestion tower (11) via heat conduction (13) to support the anaerobic stabilization, thereby characterized in that biogas is produced from renewable raw materials in an additional separate fermenter (21) using anaerobic microorganisms and is converted into electricity in a thermal power process, and waste heat generated in the thermal power process is transferred to the digestion tower (11) via the heat conduction (13 ) to support anaerobic stabilization.
