Method involves the following stages at which: offset (offsetopen; offsetclose) is determined between the returned signal referring to at least one certain position of the device and the expected signal that refers to the above certain position of the device in compliance with nominal performance curve (A); assessment of updated performance curve (B) of the sensor is performed by applying the above offset (offsetopen; offsetclose) to nominal performance curve (A); and the specified control strategy of the fluid medium control device is used in compliance with the updated performance curve (B).;EFFECT: minimum action of offset of sensor position due to ageing or allowances at production on the control system for the fluid medium control device so that control operational characteristic cannot be deteriorated.;12 cl, 4 dwg
