By means of the production method of the present invention, an organic clay particle that is stable in heat and has excellent adhesion can be produced through a simple process of substituting a hydrophile smectite clay particle in order to become hydrophobic without a separated pre-treatment procedure. By means of the production method using a measured value of ion exchange capacity of the present invention, organo-smectite, in which a maximum quantity of tetravalent ammonium cations is substituted by means of a minimum quantity of tetravalent ammonium salts, can be produced. Moreover, by means of the production method of the present invention, CP-smectite, which is organic clay that can be variously utilized in high value-added enterprises through an economical method, can be produced.
