PURPOSE: A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) primer for determining the variety of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer and a primer set by the combination thereof are provided to effectively distinguish Chunpoong from different varieties of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer through PCR analysis, to effectively select breeding resources of the new variety, and to prevent entrance of different varieties of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer. CONSTITUTION: A gene of Auxin repressed protein for determining the variety of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer is selected among sequences of sequence numbers 1-10. An SNP primer for determining the variety of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer specifically amplifies the gene of auxin repressed protein of sequence number 1. The SNP primer does not specifically amplify one or more genes of auxin repressed protein of sequence numbers 2-10. A method for determining the variety of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer comprises the steps of: extracting DNA from a ginseng sample; performing PCR using the SNP primer and preparing a PCR product; and analyzing the length of the PCR product.
