The present invention relates to a lifting apparatus for maintenance of a main bearing of an emergency diesel engine generator in nuclear power plant and a lifting method thereof. An objective of the present invention is to disassemble a minimum amount of accessory equipment of an emergency diesel engine generator required for lifting operation and then to easily and stably install the accessory equipment to lift a cylinder block vertically, and to quickly disassemble a main bearing at the cylinder block in a vertically lifted position without completely disassembling accessory equipment of an emergency diesel engine generator in a nuclear power plant site. The apparatus includes four stationary bases; four safety studs; rotation nuts assembled on an outer circumference of each safety stud; four hydraulic cylinders; four cylinder block holders provided on a cylinder block to move up and down according to the safety studs and the hydraulic cylinders; four tie rods; a lift position detection sensor to detect a lifting position; a real-time lift position detection sensor to feedback the lifting position in real-time; a hydraulic pump; a flow path adjust unit; a drive motor; a console; a control unit electrically connected to each of the drive motor, the flow path adjust unit, the lift position detection sensor, the real-time lift position detection sensor and the console to control operation of the flow path adjust unit and the drive motor according to a signal received from the console, the lift position detection sensor and the real-time lift position detection sensor.
