The present invention relates to a smart hot/cold water purifier having functions of reducing waste water for cooling and reducing power consumption, and a control method thereof. The purifier includes a power supply unit (10) supplying a power to a power source operating a device, a control unit provided in the device, and a display device; a display unit (20) receiving the power from the power supply unit to display the information on a using state of the purifier to a user so that the user selects cold water, hot water, and pure water, and providing the information on energy, the quantity of used water, and the temperature of the water; a main control device (30) connected to the power supply unit and the display unit to control the power and the display device, and controlling operation of the purifier; a hot water storage/control unit (50) heating and storing the water supplied from the exterior, and supplying the hot water under the control of the main control device if the user selects the hot water; a cold water storage/control unit (60) storing the water supplied from the exterior, and supplying the cold water under the control of the main control device if the user selects the cold water; a circulation cooling device (70) circulating the water to the cold water storage/control unit (60) to prevent the waste of the waste water; and a valve (80) feeding the water supplied from the exterior to the hot water storage/control unit (50) and the cold water storage/control unit (60) and dispensing the cold water, the hot water and the pure water.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
