The invention relates to a method for the computer-aided visual display of a fault tree (FB) for a technical system which comprises a multiplicity of technical components. The fault tree describes a hierarchical structure comprising a plurality of nodes (N1, N2,..., N6), which are arranged in hierarchical levels (H1, H2) and which each represent a technical component or a combination of a plurality of technical components which are linked by means of one or more logic operators, wherein the fault tree (FB) reproduces the failure response of the technical system on the basis of the failure of the technical components represented by the nodes. According to the invention, at least part of the hierarchical structure of the fault tree (FB) is reproduced by means of visual representation which comprises a multiplicity of concentrically arranged annular segments (R1, R2, R6), wherein each annular segment represents a node (N1, N2,..., N6) in the fault tree (FB).
