Disclosed are: a coating composition formed as a coating layer on one or both surfaces of a polyester base film used as an optical film for providing easy adhesion and surface smoothness to the base film; and a polyester film using the same. The present invention provides: a water dispersible polymer coating composition which is a coating composition formed as coating layer on one or both surfaces of a polyester base film for providing easy adhesion and surface smoothness to the base film and comprises 1-40 wt% of a polyacrylic binder resin, 0.25-10 wt% of a curing agent, 0.05-2 wt% of a slow drying oil, and 48-98.7 wt% of water, and contains an acidity controller in an amount to maintain the acidity (pH) of the coating composition to be 9-11; and a polyester film using the same.
