A method of enabling philanthropic donation includes receiving from a usertarget datadesignating a donation target and item data corresponding to a non-monetaryitem. Aprocessor automatically determines a currency amount of a monetary currencyusing thereceived item data and automatically generates a donation record indicatingthat thedetermined currency amount should be donated as specified by the designateddonationtarget by a donating party different from the user. The donation can beverified and theuser informed if the donation is not permitted. A system for enablingphilanthropicdonation includes the processor, a storage device storing target-menu dataincludingindications of a plurality of donation targets, and a communications interfaceconfiguredto provide to the user at least some of the target-menu data and to receivethe target anditem data including social media functionalities for the user.
