A foot-borne apparatus possesses a spacer/spring assembly that can be orientedin twoorientations. The first orientation has the spacer/spring assembly under thesole of theuser's shoe in such a way that the spacer/spring assembly acts against theground forenhanced locomotion. The second orientation positions the spacer/springassembly awayfrom the sole of the shoe, enabling ordinary use of the shoe.
