System and method for urban pest control, particularly suitable for controlling insects or other arthropods. The system comprises a source of a pressurized gas which produces an effect of spiracular opening in arthropods, and a suitable device for directing a jet of gas toward an arthropod or colony target arthropods. To direct the gas stream said device comprises an applicator lance comprising an outer duct and an inner duct, the inner duct a heated conduit and connected to the source of pressurized gas for driving gas towards the outlet lance, the lance further comprising means for circulating a stream of gas through the outer support pipe also towards the outlet of the lance. a procedure for urban pest control is also presented.
