Using a three-phase converter (70) for controlling a magnetic bearing (66, 68), wherein the three phase currents (40, 42, 44) of the converter (70) are used to control the magnetic bearing (66 , 68), wherein the three-phase converter (70) comprises an adjustable proportional current for setting a dy current of a q-current converter (70), wherein a first proportional gain for regulating the current d is adjusted to be lower compared to a second proportional gain for controlling the flow q, and wherein the ratio of the first proportional amplifier with the second proportional gain, is in the range 1: 2 to 1: 4.
