Method for lymph node biopsy with intrathoracic lymphadenopathy using video-assisted thoracoscopy involves the performing of surgery under general anesthesia with separate intubation of main bronchi and one-lung artificial ventilation from the contralateral side, the introduction of thoracoport for optics, examination of pleural cavity, and the selection of a location for an instrumental thoracoport. In the preoperative period, an artificial diagnostic pneumothorax is induced on the affected side followed by a spiral CT, whereafter VATS is performed under general anesthesia with continuous image video recording, and mediastinal tissue in the biopsy area is hydraulically dissected by injecting a 5% aminocaproic acid solution below the mediastinal pleura. Changed mediastinal lymph nodes, or the conglomerate of lymph nodes are removed in one piece for subsequent cytological, histological and microbiological examination thereof. In the removed lymph nodes bed a hemostatic sponge is laid, and in the end of the surgery 10.0 mL of 0.2% ropivacaine solution is injected intrapleurally.
